    Very good

Pleasantly un-commercial. Good private location Private guided lava tube tour

Breakfasts a bit ordinary. Suggest other guests take their own.

Peacefully place in the middle of the tropical forest. It's in a good position for a 2days tour at the "Vulcanoes National Park ", anyway the nearest big town of Hilo is at 50min driving.

Is it a b&b or is it a campsite? We met the owners only at the arrival and than they almost desappeared. The rooms smell musty (the rainy weather and the carpeting don't help in this way). Bed-clothes are dirty and the breakfast consist in banana's bread, milk and orange juce. For unpretentious travellers only!!! P.S. Pay attention to the tree at the entrance road if you care about the hood of your car.

The location was great as I was planning to visit the Volcano National Park. It was only 5 minutes away and made it easy to get to at night to view the glow of the lava at night The staff are extremely friendly, including their pet dogs, and will do their best to help you enjoy your visit to Volcano

The owner had access to a section of the lava tube that other tourists did not. We had a fantastic tour of the lava tube

The continental breakfast was limited but functional. It was someone's home and not our home. Very expensive for what it was

    Superb

The lodge is surrounded by lush tropical plants and giant ferns. It's only a few minutes from Volcano's Park. The Lava Tube tour was amazing! We went quite a way in the lava tube, and saw really pretty formations along the walls. Suitable for older children and people willing to climb over the uneven rocky floor and under some low ceilings passages. A real adventure!

Excellent location and the lava tube in the backyard tour was sensational. Staff was great and the room upon arrival was set up great with fully stocked kitchen. No complaints whatsoever and will be back.

None but internet and tv service was a problem to be expected in that location

    Fabulous

Comfortable room with plenty of space. Great amenities including home made bread and full kitchen and laundry. Very close to volcanoes and restaurants. Friendly staff, private. Two bedrooms perfect for my parents and I.

Overwhelming smell of room, but was better with windows open. Didnt get to see Lava tube because guide was late.

When we arrived at the Aloha Crater Lodge, it felt as if we were staying with friends. The owners greeted us immediately, showed us the grounds, informed us of the Lava Tube Tours, and offered to accommodate us on the time that would be convenient to take the tour. After dinner, they brought us fresh, homemade bread and some fruit. The lodge is very homey, and I could easily have gotten lost in the rainforest there for days. It was part of the best part of our trip, and I'm so glad we discovered this haven.

There is an outdoor hot tub on the property that looked very clean and refreshing after a long day of hiking. However, at night, that area was not very well-lit. We got back after 9 pm, and I didn't want to risk waking the lovely owners to inquire, so perhaps the lighting is better and I just didn't know. But we weren't comfortable operating the hot tub in the dark. This by no means ruined the stay, but it is worth inquiring about to enjoy the full accommodations.

Quaint accommodation with old world charm. Super comfy bed. Spa bath. Fresh fruit - home made banana muffins. Yum yum Hosts could not do enough for us

Extremely nice place to stay just a few minutes from the Volcanos National Park. The owners are so nice that they make you feel like home, and the visit they propose to the lava tube in their property is amazing! Breakfast is self served in the room, and has nice choices. The room itself was huge (we took the one with its own jacuzzi), and has all the amenities for the stage. I would recommend it to any of my friends or family without any kind of hesitation!

Not being able to stay longer... ;)

    Superb

The free lava tube tour was cool, nice tree house out back with bathroom, great night sleep, felt like we were at home

It was a little cold (although we are from Phoenix) and the rooms did not have heat. They might have supplied space heaters but we did not ask.

    Very good

The personal tour of an actual lava tube was awesome. No getting crowded out or straining to hear was the tour guide is saying. Dan gave an interesting tour. The coconut pound cake is especially tasty.

The bathroom is a bit small with not much counter space. The insulation between the rooms is thin, so you can hear the people in the adjacent rooms, but all in all, not that bad.

    Superb

I liked the gardens around the room and in the yard.

I would have had liked more information about the lava tube. It is advertised as an attraction of the lodge and it would be nice if there was some info about the tour on the web site and in the room, such as when, where and what clothes are appropriate for exploring the lava tube. We were told that we needed tennis shoes and jeans to go on the tour which neither of us had brought with us but would have if the info had been on the web site.
